Emmett O'Hanlon was born on July 9, 1990, in New York, New York, United States, to Irish parents. He spent his childhood in Ireland visiting family while growing up.

As for his education, Emmett has received a Master of Music degree and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School of Music and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music respectively.
