PREMIER LEAGUE clubs will be desperate to avoid a group of death in Thursday's Champions League draw.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham will all be in the hat for the highly-anticipated draw taking place in Monaco.

And with the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico and Borussia Dortmund all in pot two, it is guaranteed that a number of the big-hitters will face each other early on.

Spurs are also in pot two meaning they have a greater risk out of their Prem rivals to be placed in a nightmare draw.

They could face the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Juventus.

SunSport took part in a Champions League simulation doing the rounds online to see how the group stages could shape up.

And it wasn't great news for Tottenham and defending champions Liverpool in particular.

In Group A, Mauricio Pochettino's men were lumped with a two-legged tie against Lionel Messi and Co at the Nou Camp.

The two clubs met last December in the group and despite an impressive 1-1 draw in Spain, Tottenham would lose 4-2 in the reverse fixture.

But they would still fancy their chances of progressing as they also drew Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb and Genk.

Liverpool were handed the group of death.

They would have to get results in ties against Real Madrid and Inter Milan if they are to launch a successful defence of their title.

Czech side Slavia were also in Group F while Chelsea were also drawn against tricky opponents following their two-year absence from the competition.

Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and Lokomotiv make up Group E as the Blues aim to progress past the Round of 16 for the first time since 2014.

Prem champions Man City were drawn against last season's surprise package Ajax, Lyon and Atalanta.
